The emergence of task-based language teaching (TBLT), bring great impact on the municative method. What the Task-based language teaching criticize is some specific teaching modes, especially the 3P program as a representative of the weak version municative language teaching. From the prospective of the teaching principle, the task based language teaching and municative language teaching are similar. The TBLT can be regarded as a branch in the strong version municative language teaching. Therefore, the TBLT does not deny the CLT and it’s the development of CLT. Meanwhile, the application of CLT cannot be replaced by TBLT.
