这是一篇抒写一个女子由于受到家长的阻挠，人言的摧残，不敢表露爱情，害怕情人到来的诗歌，揭示了一个少女在爱情上内心的痛苦、矛盾及冲突。而这首诗歌全诗中都是采用与男主人公直接对话的方式，反映了自由恋爱受到礼教限制的痛苦。对于作者想抒发的感情，已经不能用间接抒情来表达了。所以直接抒情在这首诗歌中起了很大的作用。同时这个女子的诉苦，实际上是对封建礼教的控诉。

2、与《将仲子》类似，在《伯兮》一诗中，女主人公将对男主人公的思念之情表露无遗。
伯兮羯兮，邦之桀兮。伯也执殳，为王前驱。
自伯之东，首如飞蓬。岂无膏沐？谁适为容！
其雨其雨，杲杲出日。愿言思伯，甘心首疾！
焉得谖草？言树之背。愿言思伯，使我心痗。
《伯兮》写了一位女子自从丈夫别后，无心梳洗，思念之心日日萦绕期间，苦不堪言。而对于自己所深爱的丈夫，还有什么表达方式比直接抒情来的更直接呢？也许为国征战是英勇豪迈的，可是人生的天涯孤苦和生离死别，总是让有情的人们感到撕心裂肺的痛。
