在对接热线和投诉信的这份工作上：首先，记者在讲话和接电话时应该礼貌、大方、体贴对方，每个电话，每个确认,每个提问，都要充满感情，以表达合作的诚意，而提问要讲求技巧，尤其是一下不幸的诉说，更要人性化，注重新闻以外也要讲求人道主义，赢得对方的好感，以换取对方的信任与合作；
其次，记者一定要细致地阅读群众发来的上访信，重点是把信息的准确性，新闻背景，新闻事件和人物的具体信息搞清楚，挖掘新闻价值和更多的新闻线索，这方面一定要细致耐心，有新闻敏感度。此外,涉及数字问题时，更要确保准确，要多跟当事人核实；
