……因为这首诗太有名，留下了“壮游”一词。
　　壮游的价值，在于对于人的改变。古今中外，有太多例子是经历壮游而改变人生，甚至提升人类的文明。三、四百年来，西方社会的壮游传统，已经沉淀到社会的最底层，尤其是对原本价值观单一的年轻人，看到世界各地不同的人、行为、社会规范时，就会思省：我们的标准就是真理吗？
　　可惜的是，中国在郑和之后失掉了壮游的传统。驯化的教育、中庸的思想，让年轻人失去了走出去的勇敢，也丢失了坚强的生命意志。明朝实行锁国政策后，国势开始往下滑，民国初年到达谷底。探险、壮游的精神丧失，在1900年前后半个世纪，还成为其它国家探险的对象。壮游代表一个国家、民族的开创精神，缺乏这股精神，富不过三代，国家也会改朝换代。在我们的教育里，太强调“书中自有黄金屋”，不鼓励年轻人在真实环境中超越自我。贫穷的时候，反倒能闯，可是一旦富有，就过度保护子女。下一代失去了闯的能力，很容易丧失掉竞争力。

何为壮游
提起“壮游”这个概念，一般认为是文艺复兴时期以后，欧洲贵族子弟进行的一种欧洲传统的旅行，后来也扩展到中欧、意大利、西班牙富有的平民阶层，尤其盛行于18世纪的英国。
