台湾在垃圾分类及资源回收方面的投资已十多年，资源回收的成效及创造的再生产业经济位居全球顶尖地位。台湾在这方面取得的成就受到世界瞩目。
　　在目前上海举办的世界博览会上，台北市以“资源循环、永续社会”为展览主题，获选进入最佳实践城市之一，全市靠着45%的资源回收率成果，向国际展示台北城市美好生活的典范。


　　2008年，台湾虽然不是经济合作暨发展组织 (OECD)的会员国，但却以“front runner”(领先者)身份，受邀出席该组织的永续物资管理会议，分享废弃物预防及回收成果的经验。
　　最近在南非举行的世界杯足球赛，台湾不在脚上功夫显峥嵘，而是“占领”足球强权国家队的肌肤，让球员穿上由台湾技术制造的宝特瓶(PET)再生机能性球衣。这种球衣量轻与速排汗的双重优点，获得巴西、荷兰、葡萄牙、美国、韩国、澳洲、纽西兰代表队的青睐。
