Plot
In 1954, Teddy and his new partner Chuck go to Shutter Island on a ferry boat to Ashecliffe Hospital (a hospital and prison that accepts and treats the dangerous mental sick criminals) to investigate the disappearance of a patient, Rachel, who has escaped the hospital, despite having been kept in a locked cell under constant supervision.
Visiting Rachel‘s room, Teddy and Chuck discover a code that Teddy believes points to a 67th patient, when there are only 66(who is the 67th patient??). Teddy also reveals to Chuck that he is there to avenge the death of his wife Dolores, who was murdered by one of the inmates, Laeddis.
After a hurricane hits the island, Teddy and Chuck investigate Ward C(the most dangerous mental sick criminals are locked in it), where Teddy believes government experiments with psychotropic drugs (精神药物)are being conducted. One inmate, e Noyce, tells Teddy that Chuck is not to be trusted .
