RVSM
RVSM means reduce vertical separation minimum
The goal of RVSM is to reduce the vertical separation above flight level 8900m to flight level 12500m from 600m minimum to 300m minimum.
Advantage:First,RVSM can increase the airspace capacity。Airline industry has developed dramatically these years。RVSM provides more flight levels。More flight level means more aircraft can be handled in the same amount of airspace。So it meets the need of the development of the airline industry。Second,air traffic control wants to provide quality services to the pilots。So RVSM can allow aircraft to safely fly more optimum profiles and gain fuel savings。
Disadvantages:RVSM can increase the risk during the work。Obviously,the separation can be reduced,but if the pilot has some misoperation,it will cause a terrible result。At the same time,more flight levels means more aircrafts,it also increases the workload of air traffic controllers。
Radar control and procedure control
The major difference between radar control and procedure control lies in whether to use radar in the air traffic control。
Under the radar control,we can see the label of each aircraft on the radar screen,which contains the call sign,flight level ,ground speed and other information。We can monitor the dynamic activities of each aircraft and avoid some potential risks between aircrafts。
Compared with the procedure control,radar control also reduces the separation between a/c apparently。Under the procedure control,the information such as the flight level,position,fly heading and so on,es from the report of the flight crew。So the air traffic control is much too ineffective。
Though the radar control has brought a lot of convenience,it also means more challenges for the air traffic controller。The separation is reduced,the airspace es more and plicated。It is plex series of tasks for the air traffic controllers。
