First of all, I wish to thank Professor Zhou Fangzhu, my supervisor, for all the
time and energy he has devoted to training me as a student of linguistics at Anhui
University for the program of MA. I have benefited a great deal from his critical
thinking, copious knowledge and kind encouragement. Without his guidance and
valuable suggestions, I would not pleted this final version of my MA thesis.
My special thanks should go to Professor Zhu Yue and Professor Hu Jian for

Abstract
Reception Aesthetics was brought forward by Jauss, a professor of literature
and art at Constance University of Germany in 1967. This theory emphasizes that the
study on literature should start from that on reception. In Jauss’s opinion, a piece of
literary work, even if published, is only half done without being read.
