摘要

模糊现象是人类语言的一种本质属性,模糊表达常被说话人用于交流以达到某种特定
的语用效果。研究模糊理论并将其应用于分析各种语篇是近年来语言学家所研究的课题。
本文以顺应理论为研究框架,探讨模糊语在外交话语中所达到的语用功能。
作为外交工作的载体,外交语言最大的特征就是模糊手段的运用。外交家们常常运用
外交辞令来发表会谈结果、回答敏感性问题以及缓和外交气氛。而模糊语言的简明性、灵
活性和概括性的特点正好满足了外交语言的要求。查阅文献发现,将模糊语言运用到各种
文体的语用分析受到国内外学者的广泛关注,但运用顺应理论分析外交语中的模糊语的语
用功能的研究尚属少见,而这恰是本文的创新点。本文在列举了大量的现实外交语料的基
础上,运用顺应理论,采用定性分析的方法,探析外交语中模糊语的语用功能。外交语中的
语言模糊现象不是一个静止的观念,而是一个动态的、人际间的活动,是交际参与者对外交
语境的动态理解和动态顺应的过程。该研究的目的是提高人们认识语言模糊性的意识,找
到能够全面阐释外交模糊语产生和理解的理论,及其在交际中产生的作用。
本文得出结论:在外交活动中使用模糊语言,能够有效地促进外交关系的发展,达到
表达礼貌、表明立场、保护自身、隐藏信息等语用效果。总之,此研究从顺应理论探析外
交语言中模糊语的语用功能,是一次新的尝试,具有理论和现实的意义。研究表明:语用学
的顺应理论能更好的阐释外交模糊语言的产生和理解,对外交工作,外语教学,翻译工作的
能力的培养和语言认知和推理能力的提高具有重要的作用。

Abstract

Vagueness is an inner nature of language, which can be used by speakers to realize
purposeful pragmatic effects munication. Much progress has been made in the past years
in theoretical study on vagueness as a linguistic sample and its practice to the analysis of various
discourses. By Verschueren’s Linguistic Adaptation Theory, this thesis explores the pragmatic
functions of vagueness in diplomatic discourse from the angles of language production and
language interpretation.
Diplomatic language has its single characteristics of using vagueness. Diplomats frequently
take the benefit of diplomatic expressions to declare the result of a talk, to answer their sensitive
questions and to harmonize the diplomatic atmosphere. Featured as concision, flexibility and
generality, vagueness essfully satisfies the requirement of diplomacy. The collected data
displays that the applied research of vagueness in different ways have attracted great attention
