美国汉学家华兹生汉诗译介成就斐然, 其译作已成为西方读者学习和了解中国文化的必备书目, 产生了广泛的影响。考察华兹生的汉诗译作发现, 其译诗选本主要具有如下特征:侧重名篇诗作, 崇尚中国抒情诗和中国民族特色的诗篇、参照底本多元化等。这种选本特点既把握了中国文学的精髓, 也提高了其汉诗译作在英语国家的可接受性。华兹生的汉诗翻译选本策略对中国文化走出去颇具有参考价值。

A Study of American Sinologist Burton Watson's Selection of Chinese Poetry

Abstract:
American contemporary sinologist Burton Watson has made great achievements in poetry translation, which has exerted great influence in the west and e the essential reference books for the readers. The investigation on his translation shows that his selection of the Chinese original poetry is imbued with the following characteristics: placing particular emphasis on famous pieces, attaching special importance to Chinese lyricism and poetry with Chinese ethnic flavor, bearing international consideration, and so on. These characteristics not only indicate that Watson 's selection accurately grasps the essence of Chinese poetry, but also improve the acceptability of his translation in the English-speaking countries.
