Abstract: Studying English well es more and more important with the development of society. Students usually show great interest in English at the beginning of learning because they are fascinated by the sounds, the way it is spoken. However, they quickly find English study is nothing special when pare it with other subjects. Gradually they lose the interest, some students even lose the motivation to continue learning English. As we know, interest is the important factor of acquiring a foreign language. Therefore, how to motivate students’ interest of English learning es a hot topic which is worth exploring, especially for students in vast rural middle schools. This paper aims at presenting the current situation in English learning and teaching in rural middle schools, analyzing the reasons why students lack interest in English learning .Furthermore, it puts forward some feasible methods on how to motivate and maintain students’ interest.
