在《旧约》收入的所有诗集中,《雅歌》的宗教色彩大概是最少的了,而艺术造诣却很高。基纹短袖我最喜督教吧《雅歌》的性质看作“圣经”,认为歌中的爱情象征对上帝的爱,也预示着后世教会与教主耶稣间的爱,这当然属于牵强附会,与我国《诗经》中的爱情诗歌被编为儒家经典的情况类似。至于说《雅歌》是所罗门王的作品,也多半是附会之谈。
《雅歌》的实质是世俗的而不是神学的。因为公元前三世纪希腊牧歌盛行,而《雅歌》出现于公元前二世纪,其实质最可能是受希腊化影响而产生的牧歌。其中表现农村中淳朴的生活与爱情,清新可爱,不愧为古希伯莱文学中的一朵奇葩。
《雅歌》对爱情的描述有一点与萨福作品相似,即对官能性描写比较强调,尤其突出嗅觉和味觉,这带有一定的原始性。《雅歌》开创了以爱人的身体象征神秘花园的传统,对后世诗歌有深远影响。尽管我们可以排除后世基纹短袖我最喜督教会对《雅歌》的附会式诠释,但《雅歌》很可能象希腊牧歌一样,含有原始宗教的原型成分。
以下所译的《雅歌》选段,根据的是美国圣经公会组织翻译,1976年出版的英语《福音神经》。这个英译本用的是现代白话文,并订正了过去版本的误译,是世界上最通行的《圣经》版本。
