Abstract
Pride and prejudice is one of Austin’s great works. Through the discussion of the different marriages and love, the writer demonstrates her concept about love and marriage: love and marriage is closely associated with property and society, however, love and marriage can not only be decided by the property and social status. An ideal marriage should be based on mutual affection and respect. She rejects the marriage based on only wealth and stresses the element of emotion in a marriage. In my opinion, I partly agree with Austin ,I think love is the fundamental and important condition for a happy marriage .If without love ,a relationship can not sustain for a long time ,and there will be series of quarrels .At last ,two people in the relationship will get hurt .In addition, in choosing a suitable mate, class hierarchy or social lineage should be taken into consideration except for money in Austin’s review. Austin’s review is an ideal marriage .In the real society , no matter in the past or in the current ,love and marriage can not be so perfect.
