Auld Lang Syne
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to min’?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne?
For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.
Auld lang syne=long long ago
O’:of tak’: take twa=two
We twa hae run about the braes
And pu’d the gowans fine;
But we’ve wandered mony a weary foot
Sin’ auld lang snye.
We twa hae paidled i’ the burn
From morning sun till dine;
But seas between us braid hae roared,
Sin’ auld lang syne.
Hae: have braes: small hillsPu’d: pulled mony: manySin’: since
在故乡的青山上;
荡漾在碧波上;
And there’s a hand, my trusty fiere ,
And gie’s hand o’ thine,
And we’ll tak a right gude-willie waught,
For auld lang syne.
And surely ye’ll be your pint-stowp,
And surely I’ll be mine;
And we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.
Frae: from gie’s: give us

Consequently "For auld lang syne", as it appears in the first line of the chorus, might be loosely translated as "for (the sake of) old times".
