:
It takes sb. +时间+to do sth. 做某事花了某人多少时间
例:It took them three years to build this road.
他们用了三年时间修完了这条路。
:
sth. costs (sb.) +金钱, 某物花了(某人)多少钱。
例:A puter costs a lot of money.
买一台新电脑要花一大笔钱。
3. spend:
(1) time /money on sth.
在……上花费时间(金钱)。
例:I spent two hours on this maths problem. 这道数学题花了我两个小时
(2)sb. spend time / money (in) doing sth.
花费时间(金钱)做某事。
例:They spent two years (in) building this bridge. 造这座桥花了他们两年时间。

付钱(给某人)买……。
例:I have to pay them 20 pounds for this room each month. 我每个月要付20英磅的房租

by的用法
“在……旁”、“靠近”。如:
Some are singing and dancing under a big tree . Some are drawing by the lake.
有的在大树下唱歌跳舞,有的在湖边画画儿。
“不迟于”、“到……时为止”。如:
How many English songs had you learned by the end of last term?
到上个学期末你们已经学了多少首英语歌曲?
、手段,可译作“靠”、“用”、“凭借”、“通过”、“乘坐”等。如: by bus

“逐个”、“逐批”的意思。
如: One by one they went past the table in the dark. 他们一个一个得在黑暗中经过这张桌子。
“根据”、“按照”的意思。如:
What time is it by your watch? 你的表几点了?
,表示行为主体,常译作“被”、“由”等。如:
English is spoken by many people. 英语被许多人所说。(即“许多人讲英语。”)

by the way : 意为“顺便说”、“顺便问一下”,常做插入语。如:
By the way , where’s Li Ping , do you know? 顺便问一下,李平在哪儿。你知道吗?
by oneself : 意为“单独”、“自行”。如:
I can’t leave her by herself. 我不能把她单独留下。
by and by : 意为“不久以后”、“不一会儿”。如:
But by and by , more and more people began to study English. 但是不久以后,越来越多的人开始学英语了。
