Abstract:The main bridge of Chibi Changjiang River Highway Bridge is a two-pylon cable-
stayed bridge with a main span of 720m.The stay cables are fanned out in double cable planes.
The superstructure,measuring 1 377.8min total length,consists of the two lateral steel box
girders and connection concrete slabs.To facilitate the construction,the superstructure were
divided into 121prefabricated segments that were installed by balanced cantilever assembly method
on site,where the segments in side spans and central span were installed in parallel.The
components of the steel box girders and concrete slabs were hoisted and assembled using slewing
cranes.During the construction,three-directional temporary restraints were installed on the top of
piers,which satisfied the load bearing demands of the structure at the whole superstructure
erection stage and simplified the restriction system.The pier-top starter segments were erected by
the 160t-capacity floating cranes,to optimize the pier-side brackets and construction sequence,
the three segments on the top of each pier was hoisted and assembled at the rive
